What is the Unclaimed Estates List?

The Unclaimed Estates List in England and Wales comprises estates of individuals who died without a valid will or known relatives to inherit their assets.

If unclaimed after 30 years, the estate becomes Crown property or, in Cornwall or Lancaster, goes to the respective royal Duchy.

Those entitled to claim follow the rules of intestacy, prioritising spouses, children, parents, siblings, and other blood relatives in a specific legal hierarchy.
