Michael Olesnicky TEP, of STEP Hong Kong, and James von Simson TEP, of STEP City of London, have been elected as Deputy Chairs of STEP, the multidisciplinary, global professional body for advisors that help families plan for their futures. They will take up their roles in January 2026.

Michael is semi-retired, having formerly been a partner at Baker MacKenzie’s office in Hong Kong. He has been an active member of STEP’s branch there, including as Chair. Michael is a member of STEP’s Board.

James is a Partner in the Investment Management Team at Evelyn Partners where he specialises in looking after multi-jurisdictional families. Since joining STEP in 2018, he has been a member of STEP’s Professional Standards and EDI Committees, as well as joining STEP’s Council, and subsequently its Board.

Mark Walley, Chief Executive of STEP, said:

“We are very grateful to Michael and James for their continuing commitment to STEP’s work. Their expertise, support and energy will be much needed in enabling us to deliver our ambitious strategy.

“James and Michael would no doubt want to thank their Board and Council colleagues for the trust they have placed in them. I look forward to working with all of STEP’s Board during the year ahead.”

STEP’s worldwide Board of Directors is responsible for the high-level strategic direction of the Society. Board members have legal authority and responsibility for the organisation and are elected by members of STEP’s worldwide Council.
