1,000 miles walked – a genealogist’s journey

Six dedicated colleagues have successfully completed a fundraising project of walking a combined distance of just over 6,000 miles in less than a year, a distance further than the UK to Kenya!

The finishing line for the charity walk, one of several fundraising activities held by probate genealogy firm Anglia Research over the last 12 months, was reached by the end of January 2023, meaning the team had succeeded in both their distance and time trials.

Money was being raised for both of the company’s charities of the year – East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), which is local to their Ipswich office, and Claire House Hospice, based in The Wirral, near Anglia’s Southport office.

The team of walkers trod through rain, sleet, and snow, and sometimes through sunnier weather. There’s been bruises, blisters, and setbacks – enter treadmills, smartwatches, and long lunchtime walks.

The effort, though, was worth it!!

Employees at the firm are continuing their fundraising and charitable efforts for these amazing charities throughout 2023, and welcome any support, in whatever capacity.
