A Yorkshire solicitor has achieved the highest accreditation for lawyers dealing with Health and Welfare cases within the Court of Protection.
Jill McCurdy, Solicitor Partner at Ramsdens has gained membership to the Law Society’s Mental Capacity Accreditation Scheme as an Accredited Legal Representative (ALR), the first to do so at the firm.
Representing a range of clients in the Court of Protection, with this specialist Mental Capacity Accreditation, Jill can be appointed directly by the courts to represent protected parties and vulnerable clients.
As a Court of Protection Health and Welfare specialist, Jill represents individuals and family members where the relevant individual lacks mental capacity to make decisions about various aspects of their lives, including where they live, the care they should receive and contact with others. Jill’s work includes representing the protected party through the Official Solicitor, representing other family members and now also acting as an ALR.
Jill is a longstanding member of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme and has dedicated her career working in Child Care Law alongside her Court of Protection practice. She has considerable experience and skill in working with a range of clients, in particular children and vulnerable individuals as well as professional clients, dealing with sensitive and complex issues. She said:
“Gaining this accreditation is truly a fantastic achievement, not only for myself, but for Ramsdens as well. Now we can go even further for the vulnerable clients, children and families we represent.
We want families in Yorkshire to receive the very best service in this specialist area, and will continue to invest in our knowledge base, personnel and experience to achieve this.”
