Teacher spends $290,000 inheritance on educational tablets

According to a report in the Tehran Times, an Iranian teacher spent his inheritance on tablets for students to help with their education.

Hossein Asadi, a teacher in the Khuzestan province, inherited from his father 12 billion rials (almost $290,000) and had originally planned to buy a car.  Asadi changed his mind after speaking with a young girl who had fallen into depression after being forced to drop out of school.

Due to coronavirus, Iranian schools were closed, and the country’s Ministry of Education launched a mobile app to allow students to continue studying with a distance learning programme. However, the girl did not have a mobile phone causing her to fall behind in her studies and unable to continue her education. Asadi bought the young girl a tablet so she would be able to attend school again.

It was then that Asadi decided to provide an additional 153 tablets for other students who were also in financially difficult situations meaning their education had been interrupted. The tablets will help these students connect with more than 76,000 schools worldwide that are a part of Iran’s smart school network plan.
