Taylor Bracewell raises £79,000 for Will Aid in record donation

A South Yorkshire law firm has raised £79,091 in an annual charity will-writing campaign, making it the highest-donating firm across the UK this year, and the highest amount ever donated by a single firm in the history of Will Aid.

Taylor Bracewell, based in Sheffield and Doncaster, says it has been a proud supporter of Will Aid since 2011, and has raised a total of £336,001 with its support.

Instead of charging their usual fees for basic wills, the firm invites clients to make a donation to Will Aid, which helps to fund vital charity work in the UK and globally.

The funds raised go to Will Aid’s partner charities, which support a range of important causes, from providing humanitarian aid to protecting vulnerable children here in the UK.

Lauren Smith of Taylor Bracewell said: “Will Aid continues to be an incredibly important part of what we do at Taylor Bracewell. Each year, we see first-hand how it helps people take an important step in getting their affairs in order, while also supporting charities that make a real difference.

“To have raised a record-breaking amount this year is something we’re immensely proud of. It reflects the dedication of our whole team and the generosity of our clients, who continue to support the campaign so wholeheartedly.

“Knowing that these funds will go on to support vulnerable people both in the UK and around the world makes all the hard work truly worthwhile.”

Since its launch in 1988, Will Aid has raised over £26 million in donations, with millions more pledged in charitable legacies thanks to the generosity of participating solicitors.

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid’s campaign director, said: “This year’s Will Aid campaign has been another tremendous success, and that’s thanks to the incredible commitment shown by solicitors right across the UK, as well as the generosity of everyone who chose to make a donation while having their will written.

“Firms like Taylor Bracewell, under the leadership of Lauren Smith, have set a fantastic example of what can be achieved through long-term dedication to the campaign. To see them not only top the leaderboard but achieve a record-breaking total is truly impressive.

“The time, care and professionalism shown by all participating firms plays a vital role in making Will Aid possible, and the impact of these combined efforts for our partner charities will be substantial.”

Will Aid runs every November and offers people a professionally written will in exchange for a donation. The suggested donation is £120 for a basic single will and £200 for a pair of mirror wills. All proceeds support Will Aid’s partner charities: Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland), Trócaire (Northern Ireland), Shelter and Crisis.
