Stourbridge headquartered Talbots has announced the acquisition of Tinsdills Solicitors, in what it describes as a ‘strategic expansion’ into North Staffordshire and Cheshire .
Talbots’ offices stretch across the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Shropshire and Worcestershire and with the acquisition of Tinsdills, their footprint now encompasses Leek, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Sandbach and Stoke-on-Trent and total of 19 offices. Tinsdills 85 staff will transfer to Talbots to create one of the fastest growing, and largest firms regionally in the Midlands.
“We’re excited to be joining Talbots Law,”
said Peter Hamilton, Business Owner and Chairman of Tinsdills Solicitors.
“While our name will retire, this move allows us to build on our legacy and embrace new opportunities for growth and enhanced client service.”
In 2021 Talbots became an employee-owned trust and has embarked on a series of acquisitions in recent years with Sarginsons Law, Wright Solicitors, and Scaiff LLP all becoming part of Talbots in the years since and growing revenues to over £40m.
“North Staffordshire and Cheshire have long been ‘target’ areas for us, and there are few firms as respected as Tinsdills Solicitors whose roots date back to 1580. The decision to join forces was easy – our values align, and we share a deep commitment to supporting local people and businesses. Tinsdills’ client service is ranked as top 15 nationally on Review Solicitors, which speaks volumes.”
said Talbots CEO Dave Hodgetts
“As an employee-owned business, every member of our team has a stake in our success. That shared ownership drives our culture, our client service, and our ambition. Welcoming the Tinsdills team into our employee ownership model means we’re not just growing – we’re growing together.”
After much discussion in the press recently about office consolidation and redundancies following legal merger and acquisition activity, the firm has been keen to point out all existing staff will continue to serve clients from their current offices. Concludes Hamilton
Our clients can be rest assured that the trusted relationships they have built with our team will remain – now backed by the strength and shared values of an employee-owned firm.”
The announcement follows a spate of acquisitions across the legal sector with Knights LLP particularly active having acquired Rix and Kay and IBB Law in recent months; while Octopus Legacy announced the acquisition of WSL Will Writing in June.
