The Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), held their annual conference on the virtual stage this week, and helped delegates hope for the best whilst preparing for the worst.
Michael Culver, Chair of the Board at SFE welcomed all of the delegates to the event, and thanked them for opting to attend a virtual event rather than cancelling the conference altogether due to the pandemic.
In his address, Michael explained the repercussions the coronavirus pandemic has had on the private client sector, with demand for Lasting Power of Attorneys (LPAs) and Wills increasing as people were more aware of the need to get their affairs in order. As a result of this demand, Michael commended delegates and professionals in the sector saying that they’ve coped ‘admirably well‘, and everyone in the profession has risen to the challenges thrown at them left, right and center.
The conference had a number of key note speakers. The first taking to virtual center stage was Caroline Bielanska who talked about advising and making decisions at the end of life. The OPG then provided an update, follwed by Cate Searle who talked about the options available to clients with regards to care and protecting their assets.
Finally, Dr. Lesley King rounded the event off with an overview of the changes in the private client sector.
