Rare Porsche Takes Centre Stage at Silverstone Sale

The Classic Sale at Silverstone Circuit will showcase a variety of outstanding Porsches, all of which will be offered in their two-day sale on Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August.

One truly remarkable Porsche going under the hammer is this 1993 Porsche 911 (964) Turbo S ‘Leichtbau’. Finished in Polar Silver, this Porsche is enhanced by beautifully polished 18” Speedline alloys with Purple wheel centres and Gold callipers. This is one of only 11 supplied by Porsche Cars GB, one of only 86 in total and amazingly is showing 45 miles from new. This stunning UK right-hand drive car is an extremely important car and Silverstone Auctions will make every effort to accommodate interested parties for a private viewing. Estimated: £950,000 – £1,100,000.

Finished in a striking Tangerine with Black Leatherette and Corduroy trim is this 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Touring (M472) RHD. This gleaming 911 is considered by many to be one of the greatest of all post-war road cars and was with its first owner for 34 years. This gleaming, low-mileage RST is a pure ‘collector-quality’ and is accompanied by a great history file. Included within this is the originally supplied Owners Handbook, the 2.7 RS Supplement and more remarkably the originally supplied service booklet. This is a truly rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful RST which is ultra-desirable and of investment grade quality. Silverstone Auctions have estimated this extremely astounding car at £700,000 – £800,000.

Gary Dunne Sales Controller for Silverstone Auctions added

“We are now in the final week for entering your classic or competition car into The Classic Sale at Silverstone. Our three-day sale is set to be another standout catalogue, with a significant number of examples confirmed including these incredible Porsches.”

In superb condition and on offer from a private collection is this 1986 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo SE ‘Flatnose’. This is one of only 49 genuine right-hand drive factory ‘Flatnose’ examples, it is finished in Guards Red with a Red-piped Cream leather interior as well as fitted with the correct colour-coded Fuchs wheels. With its original, matching-numbers engine and having covered just 69,711 miles, this is a very special car which is a blue-chip icon of its era and represents a very exciting opportunity for any lover of the Porsche marque. Estimated at £100,000 – £120,000.

Finished in a delightful Ivory with the interior classically presented in Claret and Cream is this 1972 Porsche 911T 2.4 . This example is a superbly restored 2.4-litre with an immaculate engine bay and such low mileage at 632 miles. This classic 911 is simply delightful and could be a contender at a club-level Concours event. The paperwork for this car lists five owners and has been owned by the same person twice. This is a very desirable, early 2.4T and Silverstone Auctions have guided this car at £90,000 – £100,000.

Gary Dunne Sales Controller for Silverstone Auctions continued,

“These four Porsches previewed are just a handful of the high standard cars live on our website. There are many more Porsches included within our catalogue such as a 1997 Porsche 911 (993) 3.8 RSR Carrera Cup, 1989 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo LE, 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3-Litre and much more! There are many more exceptional cars going live in the coming days and your car would look great next to the cars already confirmed for the auction.”

Formed in 2011, Silverstone Auctions is a world-class, specialist auction house for the sale of classic cars, modern supercars, all types of competition cars, modern and historic motorcycles as well as automobilia.

In 2020 we sold £32.3million worth of cars and The Silverstone Classic Live Online Auction was our highest grossing sale in the history of the company. Following the success of the company, The Silverstone Auctions group became the UK's market leading classic car auction house in 2020.

We hold the exclusive automotive auction rights for Silverstone Circuit where we host several stand-alone events each year, as well as our annual headline sale as part of the Silverstone Classic, the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival. In addition to our sales at Silverstone Circuit, we also host several auctions each year at other major classic car events, including the NEC Classic Motor Show and Race Retro. At present, the events have been unable to go ahead in their typical format, but we have continued to work closely with each of these event partners for online versions.

Over the years we have also been selected by several the UK’s official owners’ clubs to hold marque-dedicated sales, including the highly regarded Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain, Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club and Porsche Club Great Britain.

With years of market expertise and specialist knowledge of the world’s vintage and modern car brands, our team works hard to provide accurate valuations and connect vendors and buyers across our global customer base.
