The private client and contentious probate legal sector is experiencing a period of growth, marked by a series of promotions and appointments.
Morr & Co has announced the promotion of two lawyers within its Contentious Trusts and Probate team. Katie Woodcock has been promoted to Partner, recognising her work since joining the team in 2020. Katie specialises in complex contentious trusts and probate disputes, with a particular focus on sensitive family matters and vulnerable individuals. Her empathetic and pragmatic approach has made her an invaluable member of the team.
Also promoted is Woodrow Cox, who steps into the role of Associate Solicitor. Woodrow is praised for his meticulous attention to detail and strong commercial awareness, traits that have earned him trust across departments and among clients. Kellie Williams-Jauvel, Head of Dispute Resolution, commented:
“Katie’s promotion is exceptionally well-deserved and reflects her blend of technical excellence and client-focused support. Likewise, Woodrow’s collaborative spirit and expertise have played a crucial role in cross-functional success.”
Reading-based law firm Boyes Turner has bolstered its private wealth team with the appointment of Matthew Briggs as Partner. Formerly of Irwin Mitchell and The Burnside Partnership, Matt brings extensive experience in international private client work, especially estate planning for philanthropic and high-net-worth individuals.

His appointment follows the recruitment of Nadine Jayes last year, further strengthening the firm’s high-net-worth estate planning services.
The law firm, AltraLaw has promoted Senior Solicitor and Head of Training Carys Strong to Partner.
