An online Will writing provider has reported writing its 100,000th Will since launch, placing it in the top five Will writing firms in the UK.
Oxfordshire-based FreeWills was launched in 2018 and, says founder Carl Christensen, ‘a simple mission, to create a positive impact that benefits both legacy donors and a wide range of charities.’ It achieved the milestone in March 2024, and says the service is more popular than ever, with the number of wills written increasing year on year, up 44% on this time last year, with March itself being the firm’s best month ever with over 4,000 written.
“This is a major milestone for us and I am proud that we have played a part in revolutionising the traditional approach to will writing. We operate as a fully remote business and cater to the modern individual’s needs, providing a convenient and accessible service that contrasts sharply with the conventional, time-consuming processes offered by established firms.”
says Christensen, who also acknowledges the impact the pandemic has had on the cultural shift to online processes and demand for online Wills. He also attributes the success of the business to the in-house proprietary will writing software which he suggests makes the process simple and straight forward, pointing to the fact that the operations of the business are delivered by just Christensen himself and co-founder and will writing expert Jenny Chase.
‘All our wills are meticulously checked by qualified solicitors, ensuring that our clients receive the highest standard of legal advice and peace of mind. Plus, by partnering with a wide range of charities, from the smallest local cause to many of the international organisations we can help people to leave a legacy to a huge variety of charities that need funding support more than ever.’
Adds Christensen.
Freewills’ plans for the future include ‘working to make Powers of Attorney and estate management more accessible than many people currently find it.’
