In April, the Best Foundation celebrated its first birthday. When the Foundation was first set up, there were big dreams and goals to be reached. Looking back over these last 12 months, we are so proud at what we have achieved.
Our mission has always been to support all areas of the estate planning industry, whilst striving to improve it and educate those within it. Our first campaign was focussed on improving the delays many professionals and their clients have been experiencing at the Office of the Public Guardian. The work we have been doing has led to us being featured in the Telegraph, Daily Mail and Rip off Britain. Our quarterly meetings with the OPG gives us the opportunity to talk to the senior leaders within the OPG and raise real issues flagged by our members and the professional community, all with the aim of driving change and making a difference.
We also continue with our campaign to try to bring an end to the selling of pre-paid probate. The risks posed by offering such a product far outweigh the benefits and our open letter signed by almost 100 people was sent to names such as the Financial Conduct Authority, HM Treasury, Trading Standards, and the Legal Services Board who we met with to discuss the changes we are calling for in more detail.
Of course, our main focus at the moment is our first annual conference being held at Silverstone Racetrack on 16th May. We wanted to host a conference like no other in our industry with inspirational and innovative speakers. With the likes of Piers Linney (ex-Dragon’s Den star), Frank Bruno (Former Heavyweight Boxing World Champion) and Amelia Sordell (founder of Klowt) as well as a panel of Legaltech industry professionals we hope we have met out brief. As we look forward to what the next 12 months looks like for us, we are excited to see our hard work pay off as we reveal some exciting partnerships with some amazing people.
