One-stop national chattels valuation service launches

A fixed-price full-service chattels valuation service has been launched specifically for probate professional in an attempt to alleviate the ‘fragmented’ approach of using multiple valuers for different categories of estate assets.

Swift Values is a UK-wide probate valuation provider founded in 2024 specialising in valuations of personal property for inheritance tax, probate, and estate administration. Explaining how they achieve a fixed-price service, co-founder Mark Littler explains the service includes a tiered range of options including remote photo-based assessments and in-person visits, all backed by a national network of accredited specialist valuers.

Littler, an auctioneer, and co-founder Antony Singer of Private Client Services, say having worked closely with solicitors on estate matters for over a decade, they both saw the need for a centralised service focused solely on probate.

“There was simply no streamlined, independent option for valuing estate chattels,”

said Littler.

“Solicitors were either overpaying for flat-fee national services or relying on local auction houses whose valuations were often geared towards securing consignments, not meeting HMRC standards.”

The new services offer a one-stop national solution for chattels valuations

“Probate professionals have long struggled with coordinating multiple valuers across different categories of estate assets such as jewellery, furniture, art, vehicles and general contents. This fragmented approach often leads to inconsistent reports, delays, and inflated costs, all while executors and solicitors are working under pressure to meet probate deadlines.”

“Swift Values operates on a fee-only basis and does not buy or sell items unless expressly instructed. This independence helps firms avoid conflicts of interest and demonstrates due diligence to both HMRC and beneficiaries.”

adds Littler. The online platform enables firms to submit instructions, upload images, and track progress in real time. For higher-value items such as jewellery or watches, there is an insured collection service.

Concluding Antony Singer said

“Solicitors want a simple, reliable service they can trust — not a sales pitch disguised as a valuation. Swift Values was built to serve that need: practical, independent, and fully compliant.”
