Legal firm’s commitment to professional development results in four internal promotions

A Cumbria law firm has announced it has promoted four members of its team as part of its ongoing commitment to developing the legal services it provides to its growing client base.

Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors has rewarded staff members for their expertise within their legal specialism to support the company’s continued growth.

Rebecca Armstrong has been promoted to the position of Senior Associate Solicitor, Selina Gonzalez and Jennifer Cafferky have been appointed Associate Solicitors, and Sharon Crisp has been announced as an Associate Probate Executive.

Peter Stafford, Cartmell Shepherd’s Managing Director, said:

“We pride ourselves on providing opportunities for our staff to develop their professional skills and capabilities, and creating a work environment which motivates and inspires people.

“The four newly promoted members of staff have shown great commitment to the profession and the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and respect to their clients, colleagues and associates, and we are delighted to be able to reward them with key positions within the firm.

“Their expertise and ongoing development will strengthen the services Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors provide, and we are excited about where the company can progress under the guidance of the promoted staff members.”

Armstrong started her career with Cartmell Shepherd a decade ago. Specialising in Dispute Resolution, she is a full member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Solicitors and deals with all aspects of Civil Litigation.

She said:

“My career at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors has been an interesting one because no two days are ever the same, and it’s the wide variety of the job that makes it so fascinating.

“My main target was to work towards promotion to Senior Associate Solicitor and I thought that might be delayed when I went on maternity leave, but I was offered the promotion four days after I returned. The company has always been supportive of fitting my career around my personal circumstances.

“The quality of training and professional development support you receive at Cartmell Shepherd is one of the main reasons why I love working here so much. The company also encourages a strong work life balance which has enabled me to explore opportunities outside of work, such as recently joining the board of trustees at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.”

Gonzalez also works in Dispute Resolution and has been promoted to the role of Associate Solicitor after qualifying as a Solicitor in 2021. She started her training contract with Cartmell Shepherd in 2019.

Cafferky joined Cartmell Shepherd in 2021 with 15 years of experience in Employment Law, and has recently been promoted to the role of Associate Solicitor.

Being appointed as Associate Probate Executive working as part of the Private Client team, and specialising in Wills, Probate and Inheritance, Crisp will continue to develop her knowledge of all areas of estates in her new position.
