‘First of its kind’ subscription estate planning service launched

A national estate planning business has launched what it describes as the “first of it’s kind” subscription estate planning service.

Simpler Law, part of Lincoln-based HAIG Consumer Group, have launched its “Simpler Infinity” plan; a monthly subscription which it says provides a family and estate Will, a Lasting Power of Attorney, estate administration, ongoing consultations and advice, Inheritance Tax planning, unlimited changes to the documents at any time, copy documents, and fully insured document storage.

The idea for the service came as clients were choosing between either writing a Will or having a Lasting Power of Attorney prepared due to the initial costs. Further fees are incurred during different family events necessitating changes to a Will including birth of children or grandchildren, divorce or re-marrying, step-children, and family disagreements. Simpler Law Managing Director Ian Peace said:

“We pay for our car and house insurance monthly, we pay for service plans monthly, and it seemed obvious that we could pay for our Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Estate Administration monthly too.

We believe that the time is right for a plan which covers everything Simpler Infinity does.”

A website listing further details of the plans has been set up outlining two available plans starting from £11.99 per month. The firm said interest has been shown in the product through both its website and social media platforms.

The firm was, however, keen to stress that their plan is not a pre-paid probate offering:

“We believe that probate plans are very questionable. Part of the Simpler Infinity Plan includes our team doing the probate for a plan holder when they pass on. This is for estates worth up to £500,000 but excludes additional charges such as disbursements, court fees etc.”

Andy Townsend, CEO of HAIG Consumer Group, added:

“Making Estate Planning accessible to as wide an audience as possible has been central to everything we have done at Simpler Law, and the other companies in the Group. The Simpler Infinity plan is an affordable solution to problems faced by many today.”
