#BWAPAwards23: Contentious Wills & Probate Team of the Year – Large Shortlist and Sponsor Spotlight

In a series of Supporters in Focus pieces, we are thrilled to introduce our sponsor of the Contentious Wills & Probate Team of the Year – Large at The British Wills and Probate Awards 2023.

We are delighted to have Finders International on board with the sixth year of The British Wills & Probate Awards and grateful they took the time to answer some of our questions.

First of all, tell us who you are and what you do?

Now in our 26th year, we are one of the largest Probate Genealogy firms in the UK with offices in London, Yorkshire, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Dublin and Sydney. We trace beneficiaries to estates, property and assets worldwide. We are best known for our work with the legal profession, to whom we offer a wide range of estate administration support services, from Family tree verification to Overseas Bankruptcy searches.

What made you support this category and what is your message to the shortlisted firms ?

This year we are sponsoring and supporting the Contentious Wills and Probate Team of the Year – Large. As we are best known for our work with the legal sector and continue to work with hundreds of Wills and Probate teams across the UK we are acutely aware of the important work that contentious probate teams conduct when estates are disputed. We’d like to say a huge well done to the shortlisted firms and the best of luck at this year’s award ceremony!

Have you witnessed any significant shifts or changes in the legal industry recently? How has your company adapted to these changes?

The Probate Registry delays are continuing to cause difficulties to legal practitioners carrying out estate administration, and this in turn is affecting the distribution of Estates to beneficiaries we have located. In the current economic climate, this is a significant issue for many people, and one causing difficulties for probate teams across the country. We have every sympathy for the issues being faced by estate administration teams and have adapted by continuing to give excellent client care by updating the beneficiaries we locate as often and clearly as possible to alleviate the pressures on the practitioners handling estate matters.

How do you envision your company’s role in shaping the future of the legal sector? What impact do you hope to have on the industry?

Our mission is to help streamline and expedite probate processes by providing efficient genealogical research and heir tracing services. By using technology, promoting transparency, and offering free training to legal professionals, we aim to provide a necessary due diligence service to the legal profession. We also aspire to have a positive social impact by reuniting families and facilitating cross-border probate cases with our global reach.

We are also founder members of the IAPPR (International Association of Professional Probate Researchers www.iappr.org) and we would like to see more like-minded international firms joining this organisation to promote and raise standards in the industry

Now, let’s meet the Contentious Wills & Probate Team of the Year – Large shortlist (in alphabetical order):

  • Ashfords LLP
  • Freeths
  • Irwin Mitchell
  • Shakespeare Martineau

Thank you to Finders International for their support for The British Wills & Probate Awards 2023.
