“2021 will be what we make it.”

Arken announce leadership transition as Newick departs

Estate planning and digital legal technology provider Arken have announced CEO Dave Newick will step down with immediate effect, to be replaced by Anthony Philips.

Newick, a New Zealander, came to the UK to lead Arken having been appointed in 2018 after it rebranded from DPL Professional. He has served as CEO during a ‘pivotal’ time, say the business, expanding its market reach, and strengthening its reputation as a forward-thinking leader in legal tech. His decision to leave Arken reflects a desire to move into non-executive and advisory roles and to explore personal projects.

Succeeding him is Anthony Philips, a seasoned technology executive with deep experience in scaling and innovating within high-growth businesses, most recently at Facebook parent company, Meta.

“It’s been a privilege to lead Arken and work alongside such a talented and committed team. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and as a shareholder, I’m confident in Anthony’s ability to lead the business into its next chapter. I’ll continue to cheer Arken on from afar.”

said Newick on his tenure.

Arken say the appointment of new CEO Philips signals a continued focus on product innovation and expansion. He joins with 20 years of global experience in the technology sector, including leadership roles in digital transformation and business development.

“I’m excited to join Arken at such a dynamic moment in its journey. Dave has built something truly special here. I look forward to working with the team to deliver even greater value for our clients and partners as we shape the future of digital estate planning.”

Company owner Andrew Barnes expressed his gratitude to Dave and his enthusiasm for Anthony’s arrival.

“Dave has made an outstanding contribution to Arken — building a strong culture, expanding our footprint, and positioning the business for long-term success. We thank him sincerely and wish him all the best in his next phase of life. At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome Anthony Philips. His expertise and vision will be invaluable as Arken enters its next phase of growth.”
