Andrew Tucker, CEO of Irwin Mitchell, passes away

National law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced that its Group Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Tucker, passed away last Wednesday following an “unexpected illness”.

Tucker had been part of Irwin Mitchell for nearly 40 years, joining the firm in 1985 and becoming a Partner in 1988. He was appointed to the role of Group Chief Executive Officer in April 2014.

Prior to that, Tucker was the Chief Executive of Irwin Mitchell’s Personal Legal Services division and he also headed up their personal injury department, working on many high-profile and ground-breaking cases.

Tucker also served as one of the Law Society of England and Wales’ Council members for Yorkshire between 2004 and 2013.

Glyn Barker, Chair of the Irwin Mitchell Group, said:

“Andrew’s many strengths, including intellect, commerciality and integrity, have ensured that Irwin Mitchell has grown and prospered under his leadership. His legacy is a robust business with a strong culture and widely admired reputation.

As well as being a hugely respected leader, Andrew was a much-loved colleague, always with the best interests of colleagues and clients at the forefront of his thinking, and we will miss him hugely.

We’re working to support Andrew’s family at this very sad and difficult time and request that their privacy is respected.”

It’s understood that the other Exec Directors are currently leading the business with the support of the senior leadership teams across Irwin Mitchell.
