Supermen Webinar 47 features investing in Trusts, the responsibilities of the Trustee and those of the Financial Adviser in advising and reviewing Trustee investments.
We also have Christopher Saunders, Investment Manager with WHIreland, featuring as a guest speaker.
What do Corporate Trustees look for in a recommendation?
Our ethos is to make Trust planning simpler, slicker and more accessible to a wider range of clients. This also includes assistance for our consultants and associates to help them improve the overall experience for our mutual clientele.
Countrywide Tax & Trust Corporation Ltd and one of its practice partners from WHIreland, take a different, but potentially rewarding approach to make investments work for industry professionals.
It is high time that advisors and fund managers alike were made aware of what is expected of them, instead of the usual rigid mandate, which often isn’t fit for purpose when the Trustees have discretionary powers and/or Beneficiaries with differing requirements and/or rights.
We will explore in tandem – with Chris Saunders of WHIreland – the application of The Trustee Act 2000 (including Section 5), drawing on our wealth of experience within Countrywide Tax and Trust Corporation Ltd and that ‘from the other side of the fence’ with Chris.
Initial suitability and ongoing advice
A user-friendly guide as to what we look for as Corporate Trustees in terms of the investment documentation – in particular the client suitability report:
· What it should include
· What it shouldn’t include
The aim is to ensure that a slick and compliant process, from the initial meeting to the receipt of the policy documents, is achieved.
Taxation
· What needs to be covered and why
· Why Investment Bonds – onshore and offshore – often provide the most suitable wrapper and when and why they don’t for certain types of Trusts
Not only that, but we will also cover a brief overview of the implications when holding investments in Trusts and how to effectively manage them from a taxation perspective – encashment in part or whole.
Reporting and Due Diligence
A brief guide to what reporting the Trustees of a Trust may be required to report, will be covered, as well as what is expected of Financial Advisors in terms of information flows and ongoing input.
The responsibility of the Investment Adviser
The importance of the flexible investment approach for the often differing needs of a Trust with multiple Beneficiaries will be looked at, including the limitations that some approaches impose.
The role of a Discretionary Fund Management (DFM) and when this may be appropriate as opposed to the use of “insured funds”.
