Women in Wills announce new chair

The Today’s Media team recently announced the opening of a new role within the popular networking group Women in Wills. Applications for a Chair of the group opened in January and we were flattered to see numerous members submit fantastic applications demonstrating their support and ideas for its development.

Women in Wills was set up by Karen Babington in 2017 to facilitate networking for women working in the private client sector. Through social and educational events the group helped foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, allowing women to develop their personal and professional support networks.

The group saw an influx of members during Covid due to the offering of virtual coffee mornings to get women together during a difficult time. Since then Today’s Media have developed the group’s offering, providing a calendar of in-person and virtual events for our members. We are proud to say that we have over 1500 members nationally having hit the 1000 person milestone on International Women’s Day 2023! We are now interested in formalising this group so that members are benefiting for professional discussions as well as having a support network of peers in the industry.

We would like to introduce you to the new Chair of Women in Wills, Paige Gouldthorpe.

Paige is the Head of Fosters in Lowestoft, a Court of Protection Specialist and Deputy Head of the Wills, Trusts and Probate Team at Fosters Solicitors in Norwich. Paige is a 3 time national award winning lawyer full of passion and drive to produce the best client experience possible. Paige was voted top 100 Inspiring Women of Norfolk and is a Trustee for Big C Cancer Charity and Norfolk and Norwich Festival.  She acts on behalf of vulnerable people in the Court of Protection and provides advice surrounding mental capacity and best interest decisions.

Paige’s calling is working with vulnerable individuals. She has known some people who have been close to ending their own lives or were shattered from the system and believes that her role is to bring her legal expertise to help create the best outcomes for vulnerable individuals. A comment from Paige:

“I feel so blessed to be given the opportunity to be Chair of such a formidable Group of Women.  What I love so much about the group is that it is dedicated to empowering women in the private client sector and this is what I work towards on a daily basis.

I am excited to enhance the profile of the group on a national basis, be a voice for the voiceless, and promote inclusion and diversity in our sector.  I am truly excited to meet likeminded professionals at our in person events.  2024 will be the year of empowerment and collaboration!”

The Today’s Media team has recognised that this is not a one-woman job, and we will be working with Paige to form a committee that will develop the groups reach and add value to its members.

We had Women in Wills founder, Karen Babington, involved in the recruitment process. She commented:

“It was heartening to receive such a diverse and high standard of applications from all corners of the UK which made selecting a single candidate very difficult. We are delighted that Paige has accepted the position with the full backing of her law firm. Paige brings a plethora of ideas, energy and enthusiasm to Women in Wills to take the group to the next level. It’s not a one woman job and I would appeal to our ‘tribe’ within the group to reach out and offer Paige support where you can. I look forward to working with Paige in the initial months to get us off to a flying start.”

We are extremely excited to see the group go from strength to strength under the guidance of a new Chair. 2024 is going to be an exciting year for Women in Wills.
