Charity campaign Will Aid 2026 returns in November, with law firms across the country encouraged to join the campaign to write wills for clients in exchange for donations to charity.
The campaign takes place each year throughout November, with participating solicitors volunteering their time to write basic wills and, instead of charging their usual fees, inviting clients to make a donation to Will Aid.
The donations help fund the work of Will Aid’s partner charities, supporting a wide range of causes from providing humanitarian aid to protecting vulnerable children and tackling homelessness.
In 2026, participating solicitors wrote 8,375 wills and raised £832,000 in donations which, as well as having an immediate positive impact on the recipients, generate an estimated £3.64 million in future charitable legacy pledges for the eight partner charities. Will Aid estimates the total financial impact of the campaign to be around £4.46 million.
Peter de Vena Franks, campaign director at Will Aid, said: “Every year we’re inspired by the generosity of solicitors who give their time to support Will Aid. Their expertise helps thousands of people put an important legal document in place, while also raising funds that make a real difference through our partner charities.
“Taking part in Will Aid is a fantastic opportunity for firms of all sizes. It enables practices to support their local community, engage colleagues in a rewarding initiative and often build lasting relationships with new clients. We’re encouraging firms across the UK to join us this November and help make this year’s campaign another success.”
Participation in the campaign can bring wider benefit to firms, added de Vena Franks, explaining it provides an “opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing clients, introduce new clients to the firm, demonstrate a commitment to corporate social responsibility, and give staff the satisfaction of using their professional skills to support good causes”.
Since its launch in 1988, Will Aid has raised more than £26 million in donations, with millions more pledged in charitable legacies.
