The Law Society of Scotland (Lawscot) has recently renewed Exizent’s Approved Supplier status for our specialist executry software for 2024.
For those that don’t yet know, our platform is modern, highly usable, cloud-based software, designed and built to meet the specific needs and outputs for Scots Law as it applies to a person’s death, and the Scottish Courts system within the wider UK context. It enables data capture and populates the key, fairly complex, Scottish Court forms such as the C1 & C5 to enable their submission to the different courts across Scotland, as well as UK-wide forms like inheritance tax.
As quite a good number of our team, including me, were born and live in Scotland. Given that and our business purpose, ‘to make the process of bereavement easier for everyone involved’, it was important to us to have our software work in Scotland just as well as it does elsewhere.
We first became a Lawscot Approved Supplier in 2022 so this is our third year with that status – a period which has also been accompanied by increasing use of our software. Being recognised as an Approved Supplier is an important acknowledgment of our team’s hard work, which they greatly appreciate. It is also a useful reference for existing and potential users of our software in Scotland as a symbol of our long-term commitment to the market. So, all good.
Some of you reading this however will be private client legal professionals working in England and Wales, or Northern Ireland. You may well know that our software also enables probate professionals like you to perform all the key tasks required to complete and settle an estate, including the capture of critical estate information (people, assets, liabilities) and the automatic creation of key outputs.
The question you might ask whether you work in Scotland or England and Wales might be “Why should I care about this accreditation?” Or indeed Exizent’s Chambers LawTech Guide 2023 Top-Ranking? Or Exizent’s other certifications including ISO27001?
Whilst the cynic might say that these (and other) ‘badges’ are just for marketing, I can share that there are a number of reasons we do these things.
There is the recognition for our team that I mentioned.
They can also be useful references to firms looking to adopt LegalTech as they negotiate one of the common adoption barriers – namely identifying appropriate quality solutions that meet their needs.
For some accreditations, there is the value of the references taken directly and/or anonymous user feedback to a third party which provide valuable validation of what we are doing and the benefits our software delivers.
Other external benchmarks, like ISO27001, are valuable in an operational sense – helping ensure we have robust and repeatable processes in place to enable us to deliver on our commitments in the long term.
So thanks, if you overcame any mild cynicism about the title here and read through to the end. There is a lot that goes into building useful software and we are happy with the external recognition we receive along the way.
