A dedicated contentious probate practice has launched a suite of products which it says will ‘help those drafting and making wills minimise the risk of them being the subject of later claims on death.’
Two of the services are going live immediately with the third to follow before the end of Summer 2025. They have been launched by IDR Law, a firm who conduct only contentious cases, under the banner IDR Law Protect. The suite of tools have been developed by the firm using their data and understanding of what and when claims commonly arise, and what could have been done to minimise the risk of those claims in life.
“Fundamentally, we want to educate and create a greater awareness of both the increasing number of claims we see but also share what we have learnt in dealing with thousands of claim enquiries in a way that doesn’t just educate will drafters on risk but also then provides a solution that helps them minimise the identified risks for the benefit of them, their firm and of course their clients.”
said CEO and Founder of IDR Law Martin Holdsworth.
“We are a very busy successful contentious probate specialist practice with a full time Triage team supporting our legal team of 24 lawyers We are all keen to look back in 5 years time and see that not only have we resolved disputes for families but we have also helped reduce or prevent some of the claims from happening in the first place!”
The two tools available immediately through the firm’s IDR Network scheme are Larke and Capacity Portal.
Larke is a technology product which provides guided steps during will instructions, drafting and execution and identifies potential risks. IDR Law say it is designed to protect the client’s wills against claims whilst protecting and assisting the will writer against later claims and will provide direct access to capacity assessment reports and the final production of a Larke Statement designed to respond to any Larke v Nugus request at a later date.
Capacity Portal is a collaboration between IDR Law, Capacity Vault and Tim Farmer; Capacity Vault is an online solution providing capacity analysis while Tim Farmer is considered one of the UK’s leading experts on the assessment of mental capacity and provides face to face and online assessment options for his clients. Commenting on the collaboration Oliver Asha, Founder of Capacity Vault said:
“The saying: “prevention is better than a cure” is a guiding principle in everything that IDRN and Larke are doing. We are honoured to have been selected as a tech partner by IDR Law. Capacity Vault is aligned with IDR Law’s quest to provide tools to reduce the chance of a successfully contested will. IDR Law’s guiding principles, their technology, and using Capacity Vault really will give peace of mind to practitioners and clients alike.”
The tools can all be used in isolation and a promotional period following launch is offering 50% off elements of the service.
