Tax and trust specialist relocates to strengthen expanding team

Nelsons Solicitors’ wills and probate team in Leicester has been strengthened by the addition of associate Helen Salisbury, who joins the team from the firm’s Derby office.

Helen specialises in inheritance tax, trust creation and trust administration and has assisted partners in her team on multi-million pound estate administrations as well as conducting complicated discussions with HMRC on technical points of law in relation to inheritance tax.

She said: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge as I move from Nelsons’ Derby office to the Leicester office. My goal is to develop the wills and probate department in Leicester through building strong relationships and connections with other professionals in the city.

“I hope that we will be able to grow the department so much so that we will soon need to recruit new team members to manage our expanding case load, establishing ourselves as the leading firm for private client work in Leicester.”

Helen’s move brings the firm’s wills and probate team in Leicester up to three, alongside a new paralegal Courtney Bent, and partner Jane Sutherland.

Helen said her favourite part of her job at Nelsons is client contact and the variety of different cases that she works on, adding that she is looking forward to meeting new clients in Leicester.

“Specialising in wills and probate is an extremely rewarding and fulfilling role. No client meeting is ever the same and I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life on a daily basis.

“I’m excited to build my reputation in the Leicester area, having started my career as a trainee in the city, and I’m looking forward to developing professionally through supervising and training junior members of the team,” she added.

Helen also pointed to a key topic which her team in Leicester will be focusing on over the coming weeks and months.

She added: “All wills and probate specialists now need to be alert to the significance of digital assets. Executors need to be made aware of them and need to be able to search for them. A priority for the team will be to encourage clients to keep digital asset logs as well as physical logs, because digital forms of inheritance are becoming more and more common.

“I pride myself on my ability to complete client work as efficiently and professionally as possible and in order to maintain that level of service, the team has its finger on the pulse of each and every development in our sector so that we can offer every client the best possible service.”
