Society of Will Writers SWW

SWW conference launches

The 2017 Society of Will Writers’ (SWW) Annual Conference has now been announced.

Being held for another year at the Abbey Hotel and Country Club in Redditch, the Annual Conference will continue to be held across two days on 9th and 10th October 2017.

An important event for the Society, the Conference has consistently been met with positive feedback, bringing together a wide range of industry specialists as well a networking opportunity for members and non-members alike.

As well as providing attendees with the chance to engage with others in the industry, one of the main highlights of the event is the high calibre of professional insight from Will Writing experts.

In addition to well-known individuals from within the SWW, this year’s speakers include:

  • Tim Farmer Mental capacity assessment expert & member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association
  • Ingrid McCleave – Specialist solicitor and tutor for the College of Will-Writing
  • Caroline Bielanska – Solicitor, Lecturer and Independent Consultant
  • Craig Ward – Solicitor, CEDR accredited mediator, writer and speaker
  • Sally Jones – Head of Legal, Office of the Public Guardian
  • Adam Johnson – Director of New Forest Wealth Management Ltd

Following the success of their presentations at previous SWW events, we are delighted to be welcoming back Tim Farmer and Sally Jones.

Vulnerable clients will be the focus for this year’s event, with covered topics including the application of the Equality Act 2010, tips on engaging with clients as well as mental capacity assessments.

Sally Jones will be delivering a workshop on a decade of the Office of the Public Guardian. An expert in assessing mental capacity and the author of ‘Grandpa on a Skateboard’, Tim Farmer will be engaging with attendees on that very topic, giving a talk on assessing capacity.

Ingrid McCleave is among the new faces talking at the event. Also a new speaker at the Conference, Adam Johnson deals with the training for the regional group as well as being part of the SWW’s Professional Standards Board. He will be delivering an interactive workshop on lifetime care.

The Society is also pleased to welcome back Derek Forbes as master of ceremony, who was involved in organising the first set of conferences.
