New appointment bolsters Mincoffs Solicitors’ private client team

A new appointment has strengthened the private client team at a  North East law firm, Mincoffs Solicitors, who say they now have more than 100 staff across their Jesmond offices. They have welcomed solicitor Alicia Speed to their wills, probate and trusts team.

Speed, who gained experience practising across both family and private client matters at another North East firm after she qualified in 2020. She will specialise in wills, lasting power of attorney, trusts, probate and Court of Protection work in her new role.

The appointment comes at a time of growth for the firm’s wills, probate and trusts team, which saw head of the department, Lydia McCaslin, promoted to partner last year and welcomed a second paralegal earlier this month to assist with the increased workload.

Speed said:

“I was drawn to Mincoffs due to its position as a longstanding North East firm with an exceptional reputation.

“The firm’s culture really made it stand out and everyone has been so welcoming since I joined – not only in my department but also across the wider firm.

“I’m joining an incredible team with a huge wealth of experience and I look forward to progressing my legal career at Mincoffs.”

The department head has high hopes for the team’s new addition, commenting:

“We are delighted to welcome Alicia to the firm and she has already proved an asset to the team in the short time since she joined.

“The department has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and it is fantastic to be in a position to welcome new fee earners to the team so we can continue to provide a first class service to an increasing number of clients.

“It was clear from our initial interview that Alicia would be a great fit for Mincoffs and I am confident she will thrive in her new role.”

Speed is the latest in a series of new appointments at Mincoffs, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year.

Senior partner, Paul Hughes said:

“It is a great time to join Mincoffs as we continue to expand in key sectors and attract new work, and we aim to build on this with plans for further recruitment in the coming months.

“We’re thrilled to be growing our private client team and I wish Alicia all the best in her new role.”
