Worried about fraud? Charity Fraud Awareness Week creates a safe space for charities/NGOs/not-for-profits and their supporters to talk about fraud and how to prevent it.
About the campaign
Charity Fraud Awareness Week, which runs from the 17th to the 21st October, 2022, is an award-winning awareness campaign, run by a partnership of charities/NGOs/ not-for-profits, regulators, law enforcers, representative and umbrella bodies, and other not-for-profit stakeholders from across the world.
Now in its seventh year, it brings the sector together to share knowledge, expertise, and good practice in fraud prevention, at a time when many in the sector continue to remain susceptible to fraud and cybercrime.
Who is it for?
- Trustees, directors, board members, staff, and volunteers
- Organisations that represent the interests of the sector and/or act as their voice
- Accountants, auditors, solicitors, and insurers acting as professional advisors to the sector
- Regulators, law enforcers and policymakers working to safeguard the sector, and
- Anyone else who wants to protect the sector and the crucial work it does.
How to get involved
There are lots of ways you and/or your organisation can get involved. Here are some of them:
- Start a conversation with staff
- Use and share the free online resources on preventcharityfraud.org.uk
- Run your own staff awareness session
- Host a staff quiz or team meeting
- Remind staff about your key policies
- Take the fraud pledge to show what you’re doing to manage the risks
- Join one of the Charity fraud Awareness’s live webinars
- Take part in the social media campaign using the hashtag #StopCharityFraud
- Write an article for your website or newsletter
- Run an event for the charities you advise and/or
- Share your top fraud prevention tips
- Promote any free resources you have
