HMCTS hosts new ‘meet the Team’ probate sessions across key regions

Following a series of “meet the team” sessions in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Newcastle, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has announced additional events for probate practitioners in the South-East, South-West, and South Wales.

Designed to offer insight into the workings of the Probate Service, these sessions are an ideal chance for practitioners to engage directly with HMCTS teams, share feedback, and learn more about upcoming changes in probate administration.

HMCTS will host events in four locations during December 2024, providing various time slots to accommodate attendees’ schedules. Full details of each session are as follows:

London

Time: 12pm – 2pm
Reigate

Date: 10 December 2024

Location: Wales RDU, 5th Floor Usk House, Branwen Room, Clarence House, Clarence Place, Newport, NP19 7AA

Each session is designed as an interactive forum where practitioners can meet Probate Service representatives, discuss probate process updates, and share practical feedback. Ian Bond, Irwin Mitchell said:

“Any probate professional registered on the HMCTS portal can attend. The previous sessions were very helpful on engagement, explaining what HMCTS were doing to clear backlogs and deal with difficult applications. Professionals should attend if they can.”

To register, contact HMCTS at NSFAMILYBMT@justice.gov.uk.

  1. ‘Back in the day’ practitioners would often visit the local Probate Registry in person or more likely such a visit would involve myself as an articled clerk.

Inevitably as a personable young lad professional relationships were formed with numerous Registry staff to the degree that you were recognised by your voice when telephoning and this was often the case the other way round with both parties appreciating the other’s plight !

Sadly efficiency and progress ended this arrangement hence the current situation.

    Call me old fashioned 😆
