New starters have been announced at Glaisyers ETL, Curtis Legal and Thomson Snell & Passmore.
Hamza Mustafa (main photo) has been appointed as a senior associate in the private client department at commercial law firm Glaisyers ETL. He joins the Manchester office from AFG Law, where he was head of private client.
Chris Burrows, partner and head of private client, Glaisyers ETL, said:
“Hamza has hit the ground running and is proving to be a fantastic addition to our team. Joining us at a busy time, he is making a real difference for clients, delivering timely, expert advice in what are often highly complex situations.
“Our department has seen a significant spike in demand following the changes to the inheritance tax regime announced in last year’s Budget, with various changes to other taxes announced this year adding further complexity, particularly – but far from exclusively – for the owners of family and agricultural businesses. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for a team like ours, and I would like to welcome Hamza on board at this exciting stage in our evolution.”
Curtis Legal, a South Wales-based wills and probate specialist, has named Rhian Rees (pictured right) as its new head of probate. Rhian joins the Pontypool firm from Redkite Solicitors in Swansea, where she was a partner and head of the private client team.
“I was attracted to Curtis Legal because of the the way the company works. It has a structure to case management and has created a system that means the team can give great customer service to our clients, as well as dealing with their cases, some of which can be very complicated, in a quick and efficient way. The probate team are experienced, professional and caring. In my experience, probate cases are dealt with in a very traditional manner and so it has been really refreshing to work for a firm that is looking to modernise the process to help those that are dealing with a loved one’s estate.”
Curtis Legal director Simon Jenkins added:
“Rhian’s expertise really stood out for us and we were keen to get her on board at Curtis to expand and lead our probate team.
“As she was a partner at her last firm and managed a large team of solicitors, we knew she’d be a great addition and would be able to help with our wider growth strategy.”
And Kent firm Thomson Snell & Passmore is celebrating a slew of new appointments and promotions, including several within its wills and probate department. Newly qualified solicitors Millie Wood (wills, trust and estate disputes), Alex Smart (wills, estate and tax planning) and paralegal Shannon Wyna (probate) will join from 1 January.
Meanwhile, Rachel Mayston has been promoted to senior associate and Neha Iqbal to associate, both within wills, estates and tax planning.
Joanna Pratt, senior partner, and Tunbridge Wells-based Thomson Snell & Passmore, said:
“It is always rewarding to be able to celebrate the career development of our people. On behalf of everyone at Thomson Snell & Passmore, I offer my warmest congratulations to all on these well-deserved appointments and promotions.”
