Free webinar with The Law Society’s Ian Bond and Taylor Fawcett’s Sarah Arundel

The Law Society’s Ian Bond, Head of Wills & Estates at Thursfields, talks key legislation changes with Taylor Fawcett’s Sarah Arundel in this free interactive webinar hosted by Fraser and Fraser.

As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic the professional life for private client practitioners is different. There has been a need to adjust many of our day-to-day working practices to cope with the new demands of social distancing, self-isolation and the various lockdowns. Our traditional office based face-to-face practices has given way to the remote delivery of legal services as we got used to working from home. Solicitors involved with the execution of wills were designated keyworkers by the government. We had new legislation to assist in the execution of wills, and this session looks at the key changes.

Probate Research firm Fraser and Fraser invite you to attend this free webinar.

The session deals with the new wills legislation:

• Explaining the background, impact and risks to consider related to the introduction of the witnessing of the execution of wills by means of video conferencing technology;
• Looking at what good practice would be in remotely taking instructions for wills;
• Setting out the requirements for the remote execution of wills using video conferencing technology;
• Considering future changes to come in the execution of wills; and
• Exploring the impact of changing wills execution will have on the execution of lasting powers of attorney.

Ian Bond is director and head of Wills & Estates at Thursfields Solicitors as well as a member of the Law Society of England & Wales’ Wills and Equity Committee. Ian is a contributor to the Law Society publication ‘The Probate Practitioners Handbook’; the 9th edition of which will be published in January 2021.
