Dignity Acquires Farewill

Farewill has announced its acquisition by Dignity. This acquisition will see the two companies combine their expertise and resources whilst expanding their impact across legacy fundraising, in-memory giving, and funeral services.

The partnership will significantly expand Farewill’s ability to invest in legacy fundraising tools, empowering its charity partners to raise more for their causes. By combining forces the joint company aims to contribute £5 billion to the Third Sector over the coming years.

Farewill will launch a new In-Memory giving proposition through funeral plans, initially partnering with select charities. Leveraging Dignity’s network of 600 branches and over 76,000 funerals annually, this initiative will offer a “unique and meaningful way” for individuals to honour their loved ones.

The combination of Farewill’s innovative online products with Dignity’s traditional funeral and cremation services brings new opportunities to support customers UK-wide, online and in branches across the UK, they have stated.

Farewill have partnered with over 400 charities, helping raise more than £1.1 billion in pledged income through gifts in wills. The acquisition by Dignity marks the next chapter in Farewill’s journey. Dan Garrett, Co-Founder and CEO of Farewill, said:

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with Dignity, a leader in the UK funeral industry. This partnership is a major step towards realising our shared vision of transforming the end-of-life sector. With Dignity’s nationwide footprint and Farewill’s technology-driven solutions, we are poised to build the UK’s most comprehensive offering for legacy fundraising and end of life planning.”

Zillah Byng-Thorne, CEO of Dignity, commented:

“Together, the companies will provide seamless, compassionate, and forward-thinking solutions for all end-of-life needs.”
