Two teams of staff from private client legal tech provider Estatesearch will take part in a walking marathon and half-marathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support this summer. Teams from Estatesearch and Exizent, part of the Estatesearch Group, will walk the respective distances in one day as part of the Macmillan Mighty Hikes initiative.
Macmillan Mighty Hikes is an award-winning series of marathon and half marathon hikes, taking place in some of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of the UK. Since 2015, the hikes have raised £70 million for the charity. An Estatesearch team of six plus three friends will walk the Lake District’s Macmillan Mighty Hike challenge on 6th June and hope to raise £2,250 for the charity.
Philip Nairn, co-managing director of Exizent, said: “Collectively, we all know a family member or friend who has been touched by cancer. For me, it was my grandfather and my mother-in-law, so raising money and supporting Macmillan Cancer Support is deeply personal.
“As a company, we regularly work with those representing the bereaved, and many of those families will have been affected by cancer. Taking part in this walk is our way of giving back and, in some small way, completing that circle.”
A further team of five will also aim to complete the Macmillan Thames walk half marathon. Mandy Hawkins, head of group operations at Estatesearch, will participate in the 13 mile London walk. She said: “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while doing something genuinely uplifting with colleagues, while supporting Macmillan. Like many families ours has felt the effects of cancer a number of times. More recently a wonderful Macmillan Nurse supported us from my husband’s initial diagnosis, talking us through treatment plans, explaining this to our children and being there to check in at every hospital visit. The compassionate, specialist care and practical support Macmillan offer is incomparable.”
JustGiving pages have been set up for the North Marathon Hike and the South Marathon Hike.
