There is now just one week left to nominate your Industry Champion for this year’s British Wills and Probate Awards, proudly sponsored once again by Arken.legal. What’s more, the shortlist for the other categories is now just days away from being revealed.
The Industry Champion Award, a remarkable accolade, is unique in that it relies entirely on your nominations and votes, making it a true representation of the wills and probate sector’s voice and recognition of excellence.
Introduced in 2021, the Today’s Wills and Probate Industry Champion award has showcased numerous exceptional individuals who were nominated by their peers. Previous finalists include Michael Culver, Jade Gani, Ian Bond, Holly Chantler, Matt Pennington, Trevor Worth, Trusha Velji, Chris Whittington, and Heledd Wyn who have each made a remarkable impact on the industry.
As the 2023 award approaches, it seeks to honour individuals who have surpassed expectations in championing the industry over the past 12 months. The award is open to personalities, practitioners, managing partners, leaders, and influential figures who have made a positive contribution to the success of the private client sector.
Previous winners, Michael Culver (2021) and Trevor Worth (2022), have set the bar high, and now the spotlight turns to the industry to identify the next champion.
We invite you to nominate someone who meets the following criteria:
- made an exceptional and inspiring contribution to the industry over the last 12 months
- produced something extraordinary that supports the industry
- embraced change and driven innovation within the sector
- supported and inspired their peers and others within the industry
- championed the Wills and probate industry through their work and conduct
Please note that self-nominations and nominations from within the nominee’s organisation will not be accepted.

We often hear touching accounts of nominees being pleasantly surprised by secret nominations from their peers, so nominate today and let’s recognise the unsung heros shaping the future for this industry.”
Dave Newick, CEO of Arken.legal said:
‘’When you think about a champion who do you think of? Who have you seen act as a champion of the Wills and probate sector over the last year?
Those people who have gone above and beyond their day jobs to make a real difference to our industry, to bring new innovations, to give our sector a voice or just to care about the people within it. Arken were really keen to start this award with Todays Media as it is nominated and voted for by the industry itself. We have seen some great examples over the last couple of years and we look forward to seeing some great nominations again this year and celebrating with whoever wins this coveted award.”
Trevor Worth, MD and Founder of Portcullis Legals and current British Wills & Probate Industry Champion said:
“To be voted by my brilliant peers in the Estate Planning sector as the 2022 Industry Champion was as unexpected as it was amazing. To receive the award live from NASA in Florida is certainly something I’ll never forget!
There are so many fantastic people in our sector and this should be celebrated. There are so many colleagues around the country that I am pleased to call friends now after so many years of sharing marketing ideas and client stories with. Individuals with so much talent carrying out work in their communities that helps reflect well upon all of us in the legal sector and striving for excellence in both qualifications and customer service.
It is truly one of the best accolades to have received and as the British Wills and Probate Awards are rightly termed as our sector’s ‘Oscars’, I’d urge you to nominate someone who goes above and beyond and has years of consistent brilliance and kindness behind them. It has certainly given our business another edge in the minds of our clients and professional partners and I am truly grateful for that.
I look forward to seeing the nominations and to welcoming them aboard. Get your nominations in!”
