UK fintech startup Capsafa has launched a free financial life organiser to create a clear record of documents relating to pensions, policies, savings and property.
Founder of the company, Dan Yorke, developed the service after watching his father “struggle to trace pensions accumulated across different jobs and businesses”, while also seeing how missing documents can delay mortgage applications.
The platform, launched in September, organises information around estate planning, savings, investments and property, alongside important paperwork and document locations.
It comes as a survey commissioned by Capsafa found that one in six will-holders say their family probably or definitely would not know where to find their original will if they died tomorrow.
The research further found that 26% of UK adults say they or someone in their family became aware of a relative’s bank account, pension or insurance policy after their death.
Following the launch of the service, York said: “A will and an inventory of financial information serve different purposes. One records your wishes and arrangements; the other helps someone establish what exists and where to begin.
“A provider name, a document location or a professional contact can be a useful detail when someone is trying to piece the picture together.”
The organiser is accompanied by an executor pack which can be used when needed to update changing circumstances.
