Knowledge Transfer Partnership enables firm to build in-house client portal

Atwells Solicitors have used a successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop a new client client portal, appointing the architect as a new permanent associate

KTPs are offered via a UK-wide programme connecting businesses with academic or technical experts, in order to drive innovation or strategic growth.

Under the KTP programme, senior software engineer, Sriteja Chilkamarri, created, designed and built a client portal for the south-east solicitors’ firm, working with the support and guidance of Attwell’s partner and chief operating officer, Laura Harrington-Rutterford.

Following the conclusion of the KTP in September 2026, Chilkamarri has been appointed as a permanent member of the team.

Laura Harrington-Rutterford at Attwells Solicitors, said “The Knowledge Transfer Partnership has given us a fantastic opportunity to bring together legal expertise, academic support and technology to develop something specifically around the needs of our firm and our clients.

“Sriteja has played an integral role throughout the project, taking the client portal from an idea through the design and development process to create a portal for Attwells.

“We are delighted that the end of the KTP is not the end of Sriteja’s journey with Attwells. Welcoming him as a permanent member of the team means we can continue to build on what we have achieved over the last two years and explore further opportunities to use technology to improve the service we provide.”

Chilkamarri said “Working on the Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Attwells and the University of Essex has given me the opportunity to apply my technical knowledge to a real business challenge and see the project develop from its earliest stages through to implementation.

“I have really valued the support and guidance I have received throughout the KTP, particularly from Laura and the wider Attwells team. I am very pleased to be continuing my career with Attwells and look forward to developing the portal further and contributing to the firm’s future technology projects.”
