The second series of a YouTube television show showcasing the work of probate researchers will debut on Thursday 8th May with a story to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
A special episode of ‘Lineage’, a series launched by probate researchers Fraser and Fraser, commemorates 80 years since the end of the second world war with a special episode to uncover the identity of a fallen soldier, buried with honour in the Netherlands, miles away from the life he once knew.
The story follows the efforts of the grave custodians, who have tended to the final resting place of the named, but unknown soldier for years, and their efforts to finally see the face behind the name on the headstone.
The Fraser and Fraser team collaborate with dedicated researchers in the Netherlands, piecing together fragmented records and navigating historical archives involved in tracing the soldier’s lineage, navigating wartime complexities and geographical boundaries.
Lineage is a series of short episodes published on YouTube channel, ProbateTV exploring the world of family history and estate inheritance. The series is fronted by case workers who present real-world scenarios, with the episode exploring how they deal with practical, and legal challenges of identifying families, and distribute the complex estates presented by the case.
Timed to coincide with the 80th commemorations of VE day the episode is a poignant reminder of the work of probate researchers says Andy Loakes at Fraser and Fraser.
“This episode of Lineage is particularly special. It’s a moving tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and it highlights the important work that probate researchers do to connect families with their past – in this case, to connect grave adopters with a photograph.”
The first series of Lineage followed the work of the firm in tracing estate beneficiaries, including one episode in which Case Worker Shannon Freeman is tasked with finding the beneficiaries of the estate of a deceased who died intestate. His care home, where he was resident for some years before his death, could shed little light on his history and the episode takes viewers through the process of establishing who his parents were, and any siblings who would be the beneficiary of his estate. It is later revealed the family were not even aware of the existence of the deceased.
Series two, episode one of Lineage, title ‘The Fallen Soldier” will be published on ProbateTV on 8th May.
