Honey Legal leads the way in growth, legacy and career development

As the demand for well-drafted Wills and expert estate planning increases, Honey Legal is responding with a combination of cutting-edge technology and legally qualified experts.

From its start providing Wills, Honey Legal quickly built on this to offer a full suite of estate planning services including Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and probate. Dedicated to helping people understand that a Will is not enough, Honey has helped countless families and individuals put the right structure in place to manage their wealth and affairs for the future.

The Honey Legal story

Founder and CEO Al Gardiner set up Honey over a decade ago and has seen non-stop growth from the beginning. Dedicated to providing a first-class service, leading expertise and state of the art technology, he has been at the forefront of estate planning innovation from the start.

At Honey, client contact is a priority. While some technology platforms might leave clients to work things out on their own, Honey will ensure that clients have a professional by their side to help them through the process. The team understand not only the legal complexities of dealing with estate planning but the emotional weight of making decisions and putting the right documents in place.

This unique combination of technology and the human touch is the key to Honey’s success in the sector.

Al Gardiner explains:

“We focus on establishing long-standing relationships and working with people to deliver a better overall client experience, but alongside this we are committed to looking after our staff and their well-being.”

Growth

Despite the pandemic, Honey Legal has continued to grow, with its technological advantage meaning it was able to continue to provide excellent service to clients throughout the disruption. It continues to be one of the largest and fastest-growing specialist estate planning companies in England and Wales.

In fact, in the past year alone Honey has booked more appointments in a single month than ever before and had the highest sales months ever in terms of both volume and value.

Over the previous 12 months, there has been a 42% increase in estate values protected, with a total of over £12.5bn. Some 14,000 new clients have been taken on and the company has recorded its highest ever month in probate income received.

The projected increase in future probate fees payable is 30%, equating to an increase of tens of millions of pounds each month, and the figure is continuing to rise.

Legacies

In addition, over the past 12 months they have raised over £35m in legacy donations from Wills they have written, benefiting over 600 charities across the UK including support for cancer, children, animal welfare, Alzheimer’s, dementia and many more.

Over the last decade, they have raised millions for charity without an expectation of return. Honey believe encouraging people to leave money to charities is the right thing to do and therefore they also donate a percentage of our own profits to a range of charities.

Career development

Alongside their continuing growth, Honey take investment in their staff very seriously. They work exceptionally hard to develop and support staff on an ongoing basis, including within their 100-strong Head Office team.

Al Gardiner is excited by the scope for Honey to do well in the future:

“We continue to focus on innovation and taking advantage of the latest technology to enable our people to do their jobs better.

It is the combination of the right people and leading innovation that will continue to drive Honey Legal forward.”

They make a point of encouraging each and every member of staff to achieve their full potential and train existing employees, as well as investing in specialist and experienced individuals, to ensure they can continue to develop and improve their business.

Many of the Honey team has been with them long-term and they promote from within. They have workers who started out on the phones booking appointments who now head up two call centres, legal trainees who are now qualified paralegals, and paralegals who have been supported to qualify as solicitors.

Review site Trustpilot reflects their emphasis on high standards, giving them over 4,300 5-star excellent reviews.
