Silverstone Auctions May Sale 2021 will see this spectacular 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint Convertible offered in their first sale of 2021 in which bidders can attend in person!
The glass fibre-bodied Elan has a very advanced specification and was fitted with disc brakes all round, with the independent suspension to set up in order to optimise ride quality and handling finesse – the qualities for which this little car is still admired for. The 1971 Elan Sprint most notable external feature was the horizontally split two-tone paintwork in half a dozen vibrant colours.
This lovely Elan Sprint was supplied new on 27/01/1972, this exceptional example comes with one of the most comprehensive history files that Silverstone Auctions have ever seen. There are literally dozens of invoices and unusually for an Elan, this allows Silverstone Auctions to warrant the mileage of just 21,886 as genuine.
It is one of the most original Lotus Elans the auction house has ever seen. In June 2014, the magazine ‘Classic Cars’ thought so too as they featured this particular car in a four-page spread. The magazine talks about the superb originality of this car and its astonishing history file. The condition of the car is outstanding with the best door gaps and overall panel fitment of any Elan ever seen by Silverstone Auctions.
