Mental Capacity Act and Lasting Powers of Attorney – 25th September

A one-day interactive practical workshop and examination to equip delegates to have full confidence in embracing Lasting Powers of Attorney taking clients from initial instructions through to execution and registration at the Office of the Public Guardian.

The number of people assigning emergency decision making to people they trust by using a Lasting Power of Attorney has increased by more than 180% in the past five years alone.

The most recent data from the Office for National Statistics declared that 726,000 LPA applications were made in 2015-16. In 2018, Government Dashboard figures confirm that more than 15,000 LPA applications are being made each month using their new online system.

These figures tell us that more people want a trusted person to be put in place to help make emergency decisions on their behalf. It is imperative that we are ready, with extensive knowledge, understanding and skill, in the consultation and delivery of LPA work.
