Why choosing the right Will writing software is crucial to your business

Let’s face it, setting up a Will writing business isn’t easy.

Even after you’ve undergone the relevant training and begun to get your head around the market, there is still the task of establishing your brand and working out the best way to attract potential clients – tasks which should not be taken lightly.

Whether you’re just setting up, upskilling from instruction-taking to drafting Wills, or have been established within the sector for years, carving out your place in the market is no mean feat.

Offering a quality service enables you to charge higher prices for the advice you provide. Your client will expect to see this quality through the entire process, from your initial contact through to the printed Will you deliver to them for execution.

Will writing software plays a key role in presenting the final product you deliver to your client. Whilst its importance may not have even crossed your mind if you’re new to the market, ensuring that you select a software which will adapt to your expectations and business needs can be the difference between a client choosing your services over someone else’s.

For a start, it’s important not to underestimate the part that the software will play in your business. In terms of consistency, certainty and ensuring that a document is compliant, the use of software is the most effective way to ensure a consistent standard is achieved.

Quality should come first. It’s important to remember that a professional’s standard can only be judged on the quality of the service they provide. Before simply going for the cheapest option, consider the wider implications of making a decision only based on price. For example, it’s not just the software you’re investing in – the money you spend will also go towards the support and advice that the provider will offer.

Think about the longevity of the product too; after all, you don’t want to find yourself having to fork out for new software after a few months, simply because it can’t cope with more complex Wills. Being able to adapt to a range of clients’ different circumstances is key.

The ability to adapt also applies to the wider legal sector in general. As an example, it’s good to check if the software will keep up to date with the latest regulations as well as general practice.

In terms of practical help, especially when you’re new to the market, providers are often best placed to offer you guidance. Though this may be a factor which is rarely considered, establishing a strong relationship with your provider can be beneficial to your business in the long run, as well as providing you with an additional source of support. What’s more, knowing that your provider is committed to delivering a high standard of service as well as providing a quality product can make a world of difference to your business.

Of course, it can be difficult to truly understand how transformative software can be if you’re unfamiliar with how it will be implemented. On the other hand, if software already forms a vital part of your business, you’ll also want to know how a new product will compare; how will the features benefit you and your business in practice?

With an aim to help professionals get to know the difference that the right software can make, DPL is attending this month’s AGM & Willwriting Academy Ltd Conference, hosted by the Institute of Professional Willwriters and the Institute of Scottish Professional Willwriters. Two of our experts, Chris Brewer CEO Solicitor TEP and David Barnes FCIB TEP, will be holding live demonstrations of our software on the first day of the event, enabling professionals to truly understand how easily it could fit into and improve their existing processes.

Chris and David will be available in the Tower Lounge on 21st March, from 10.00 am – 13.30 pm.

If you’re attending the Conference and are interested in seeing a full demonstration of our software, we encourage you to pre-book a session or call in on the day – please email Beverley@dplprofessionalsolutions.com or call us on 01732 867792 to discover how Arken could benefit your business.
