Upcoming ‘unconference’ TWP Festival has announced the first of its speakers for the event, which will take place on Tuesday 23rd June in Digbeth, Birmingham. Early bird tickets priced at £119 +VAT are available until Friday 8th May.
Following the success of the inaugural event, organiser Today’s Media, the publisher of Today’s Wills and Probate, has announced plans to run TWP Festival 2.0, this time in the gritty urban and creative district of Digbeth in Birmingham.
The Legal Ombudsman, IDR Law, private equity backed Octopus Legacy, Trinity Bridge Wealth Management and LEAP Estates are the first of the speaking line-up to be announced, delivering a range of sessions designed to provide a comprehensive update of wills, tax, trusts, probate and estate planning.
The sessions will focus on topics including how to tackle client complaints; contentious case updates and lessons for future practice; what acquirers really look for in a will writing or probate business; how to work with financial experts to provide the right advice to clients; and a review of what 250,000 wills, LPAs and trusts can tell us about the evolving private client sector. More speakers will be confirmed in due course.
TWP Festival 2.0 will open with the hugely popular State of the Nation discussion forum, last hosted in 2024. The open forum provides an opportunity for attendees to grapple with key issues of the day with a panel of industry experts. Expect digitalisation, electronic wills, capacity, reform and the great wealth transfer to feature.
Described as a “breath of fresh air” by last year’s participants, and praised for turning the traditional conference format on its head, the inaugural TWP Festival in 2025 was hosted in the Warwickshire countryside. The music festival styling was complete with live bands, stilt-walking, face painting and Hawaiian shirts. The relaxed format provided a new and innovative way to network, as festival-goers engaged with the CPD training and informative content.
Comments from the day included “The format was a bit different to the usual, but honestly, I thought it was a refreshing change,” and “I loved the venue and the theme. It was a nice change from the standard conference. I also loved how relaxed it was!”
Explaining why TWP Festival is returning for a second year, Today’s Media managing director David Opie said: “In our first year we found a real appetite amongst professionals to come together in a unconventional and relaxed environment.
“Critically, the standard of our speakers and content was exceptional and feedback from attendees was hugely positive. We look forward to bringing that high standard of content and speakers to a more central, but no less quirky location.”
The event’s venue facilitates extensive exhibition and networking opportunities for delegates throughout the day. Festival-goers are invited to stay for more entertainment and a BBQ at the end of a day of insight and learning.
An early bird ticket rate of £119 +VAT is available until Friday 8th May, after which tickets will increase to £149 +VAT. Tickets can be purchased from the TWP Festival 2.0 website.
