Will Aid 2025 is formally launching with solicitors encouraged to take part in this years’ campaign. In its 37th years the initiative has announced two new charity partners with charities Shelter and Crisis set to benefit from this year’s campaign.

Will Aid month will return in November aiming to add to the £24 million in donations and tens of millions more in pledged legacies since it launched in 1988.

The concept is familiar to many firms already involved in charity wills schemes; firms are asked to waive their usual fees and instead encouraged clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid throughout Will Aid month. Alongside Shelter and Crisis, monies raised is distributed to the longstanding partner charities including Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland) Trócaire (Northern Ireland). The recommended voluntary donation is £120 for a single Will and £200 for a pair of mirror Wills.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shelter and Crisis as our newest charity partners.

said Peter de Vena Franks, Campaign Director for Will Aid.

“Their work tackling homelessness and housing insecurity here in the UK is more vital than ever, and this partnership gives participating solicitors the chance to directly support people in need – both through their legal services and the funds raised.”

Will Aid has seen more than 340,000 people write their Will through the charity campaign which encourages firms to consider the wider benefits of offering their services for no fee for the month. Although the writing of Wills is done free of charge, any additional services and advice is chargeable and many firms see returning clients, boosted local visibility and team development as additional benefits of taking part adds de Vena Franks.

And with demand anticipated to be high again this year, solicitor firms are now being encouraged to register now for 2025, giving them earlier access to the full range of promotional support, including national and regional press outreach, a secure solicitor dashboard, and listing on the Will Aid website.

“We’d love to hear from firms who want to get involved, as the sooner they register, the more support we can provide in helping them prepare, promote their participation, and maximise the benefit to clients, communities and charities alike.”

concludes de Vena Franks. Participating firms have full control over their caseload and can opt in for remote appointments to expand their client base across the UK. The list of participating solicitors goes live on 1st September and firms can continue signing up right up until the start of Will Aid month in November.
