Alzheimer’s Society comes onboard as charity partner of #BWAPAwards2022

The Alzheimer’s Society has been announced as the official charity partner of the British Wills and Probate Awards 2022.

The charity – whose primary aim is to support those facing dementia and their carers – comes onboard as the Awards march ever-closer to their fifth anniversary on the 20th October.

“We are absolutely delighted that Alzheimer’s Society has been named as the official charity partner of this year’s British Wills and Probate Awards,” said Amy de Ville, Community Fundraiser, Alzheimer’s Society.

In the UK, someone develops dementia every three minutes. For 2022, the Alzheimer’s Society’s critical goal is to support people who are newly diagnosed with dementia and to enable a better way of life.

Dementia is a complex condition and has lack of treatments. There is a “postcode lottery” for care that means some people with a diagnosis and their families are not able to access the right support they require. Too many people are facing dementia alone, so many find it difficult to figure out who to turn to for support and guidance. De Ville said:

“Every day, we are fighting to improve conditions, increase inclusion, better care, and invest in the brightest researchers. We provide help, we support people affected by all types of dementia through some of the hardest and most frightening times. Whoever you are, whatever you’re going through, you can turn to us for practical advice, emotional support, and guidance to the best next step.”

The solution, the charity says, is to provide a wide range of support services to ensure that nobody must face it alone. Services they aim to provide include dementia cafés, online forums, dementia advisors, support workers and who provide support to families and carers. De Ville concluded:

“By supporting Alzheimer’s Society, you could have a truly transformative impact for people affected by dementia. Together with supporters like yourselves, we will make sure people living with dementia and their carers live more fulfilled and less fearful lives, free from stigma and inequality.”

David Opie, Managing Director of Today’s Media, organisers of the Awards, said:

“The British Wills and Probate Awards is proud to showcase our charity partners through the ceremony. The work the Alzheimer’s Society does, alongside the Dementia Friends initiative, is inspiring.

We encourage all those who are attending this year, either in person or virtually, to support the raffle to raise money for this fantastic cause close to the heart of Today’s Media.”

Barry Mattock, Group Managing Director, Property Solutions Group, added:

“As headline sponsors of the British Wills and Probate Awards, we are delighted to see the Alzheimer’s Society appointed as charity partner. Dementia is such a cruel disease, affecting not just the person, but their families and friends too. As an industry, we have an amazing opportunity to come together in October to raise some significant funds for the phenomenal work that this charity do, on so many levels, in our communities.”
