Congratulations to Settify and Probaters for winning ‘Best Use of Marketing and Social Media’ category at the second prestigious British Wills and Probate Awards on 17th October 2019 at the esteemed Belfry Resort and Hotel.
With the increased number of submissions in categories for the awards this year, the judging panel were spoilt for choice as they fervently went through the entries to find three outstanding finalists, namely Thy Will Be Done (Spain), Fortis Law and of course Settify and Probaters. Eventually, judge’s decision was final, and Settify and Probaters was crowned as cream of the crop in this category.
The judges commented on the winner saying, “A big step forward to an online client service provision, using tailored marketing in an innovative way to communicate and educate their clients.”
Congratulations on winning ‘Best Use of Marketing and Social Media’ award, tell us about your team and the services you provide
Settify is a legal technology company that specialises in creating solutions for Family Law and Private Client solicitors. The team behind Settify is made up of experienced solicitors and developers. Max Paterson, co-founder, and CEO, is a family solicitor, who practiced with a preeminent Melbourne based firm. Athol Birtley, co-founder, and CTO, is an IP/Corporate solicitor, and in a previous life developed a computer game which sold to Electronic Arts. In the UK, Settify is run by English family solicitor, Edward Kirk.
How has your firm developed and progressed within the last 12 months?
In the last 12 months, Settify has been adopted by at least 50 firms throughout Britain. Many of those firms are using our family law product, but there is already strong demand from firms for our new estate planning product, which we developed with the guidance and assistance of Probaters.
Our products are already being used by over 150 practices in Australia and New Zealand, and we have been delighted to see them received so warmly here in Britain.
With the use of marketing and social media, how have you created an effective platform and online presence through which your customers/clients can reach you?
Settify for Estate Planning is a market-leading tool to enable lawyers to wow their clients with an impressive digital offering. More and more clients are looking to organise their lives online, from online banking to online mortgage applications to online insurance. By allowing clients to make a start with their estate planning online, firms can take clients ‘off the market’, and also shepherd people through the estate planning process in days, rather than months.
Because Settify is an intake system, it can dazzle clients with a sophisticated online experience, while still retaining the human connection of a traditional delivery model. After providing their information online, clients still meet with a lawyer, and they still receive bespoke advice and tailored documents. But the beauty of Settify is that it helps to prepare clients to make the decisions they will need to make, it identifies any documents that lawyers will want to see, and it can link in with accountants and financial planners to get everyone on the same page. Settify makes the whole process faster, more efficient, and more streamlined for everyone involved. Clients report increased satisfaction, lawyers report increased profitability, and there is no compromise when it comes to quality.
Why is the British Wills and Probate Awards event, which recognises excellence and highlights achievement in the industry, so important to the industry?
As more and more technology products become available to law firms, it can be difficult to distinguish valuable offerings from ephemeral gimmicks. Awards nights like the British Wills and Probate Awards help the industry to identify quality services and providers.
