A decade ago, firms were just starting to use tools such as management software and document automation. Nowadays, most professionals couldn’t envisage running a firm without these tools. However, during these unprecedented times, new emerging technology is absolutely essential to continue to provide vital estate planning services to clients. Behind the scenes, we have been developing additional features within our legal document drafting software, Countrywide Legacy, which will ensure users are able to take instructions over the phone or video conferencing (such as Skype, Zoom or Go To Meeting) whilst reducing risk.

As we are still awaiting for emergency legislation to relax the witnessing of Wills and speed up the registration of LPAs to be put in place for England & Wales, we have adapted our software to ensure firms are still able to provide estate planning services whilst we are all modifying the way we work to suit the current climate.

Our webinar will demonstrate the new modifications in the software to reduce the risk of the challenge against the Will in the following areas:

  • Mental capacity
  • Undue influence
  • Knowledge and approval

We will also be demonstrating how you are able to screen share with your client, so spellings of names, addresses and relationships can be checked whilst video conferencing and taking instructions electronically. Additionally, you are also able to screen share the Will in full or in part to your client.

When sending documents to your clients, either electronically or by post, our webinar will demonstrate the secure website where your client can confirm all of the necessary information and answers to questions in relation to the execution, in order to confirm it has been completed according to the Wills Act 1837. Countrywide Legacy has put measures in place to effectively reduce the risk of challenge for the client and the instruction taker, regardless of how the instructions have been taken.

Unlike many other software providers, all legal documents are created in Word so bespoke paragraphs can be added to make the documents client specific, if required. This also ensures that you always have control of your clients documents and are never locked in. Unlike other software providers, when you sign up with Countrywide Legacy, there are no unfair termination clauses and you can transfer client files quickly and easily.
